Does anyone have a cellphone with SMAF-sound that's not on the official lists for MA-1~MA-5 SMAF-handsets?
What confuses me are all the polyphonic phones of sony ericsson that are not on the list while some of them are.
It seems sony ericsson phones generally have another kind of polyphonic sound than SMAF (or do they?) but then some very similar models like V800 (MA-5 list) and Z800 don't appear both on the list.
My old cellphone died so I'm thinking I should get one with smaf to make music for.
So if anyone has a phone with SMAF that's not on the list, tell me which.
(if I'm gonna sell my soul to 3G the phone better have MA-5 or MA-7 if I wait that long)

I'm sorry I can't answer your question, I wanna know aswell...
I'm also planning to buy a cellphone with a MA-soundchip (preferably MA-5), but I don't really know which (either)... The Sony Ericsson W800(i) would be cool, since it seems like a good phone, and it also have a mini-tele output, so you could connect it to a PA and play songs that you've made "live" (uhm, more like "on stage") with it ^_^ ... But it's damn expensive
Also, I want to know if there's any software that you use on the phone, and not first on your computer, and then sending it over to the phone... Hmm, maybe that's a stupid question, sry ^_^
(btw: DON'T SELL YOUR SOUL TO 3G!)

ive looked further into this and found confirmation to yamahas lists being complete atleast afa sony ericsson models are concerned.
gsmarena.com is useful along with yamahas lists.
in general ma-5 phones seem to be fancy expensive ones... ma-3 is easy to get cheap though. samsung seems like the best bargain on ebay.. ive glanced at n720 which seems like one of the cheapest ones with ma-5 but its still too costy (on ebay that is)

i don't think there IS a list of all the phones with a particular soundchip, etc ... at work we always had to make our own lists like this for figuring out what formats to set up for each handset ...
the way we'd make SMAF files at work ... open a general midi file inthe SMAF edior, which lets you assign samples to some sounds and use a mixer ... then save out the SMAF.
my favorite general midi tracker for win is ztracker
