Check out the PlaySID device project at : http://www.swinkels.tvtom.pl/swinsid/playsid.htm
Dream to get one!!!!!! big_smile

I were desapointed that SIDMan project done by Kevin Horton is not avaiable (snif!) http://tripoint.org/kevtris/Projects/sid/sidman.html

On GBA there is SplamSID a good SID emulator and the ST Sound Advance by Leonard/Oxygene nice Atari & Amiga tunes on GBA big_smile

Re: Portable SID player

Damn... Why doesn't ipod support .mod, .s3m, .it, .xm, .sid, .snd, .nsf, .psg an every other module/console/old computer sound format? ;(
Or what about a portable hd-player with plugin support? (kind of like plugins for winamp)... That's not impossible to develope, but it would probably be expensive...

Re: Portable SID player

if you are ok with emulated chips, rather than authentic hardware, the gp32 has players for many of those classic formats (including sid):

http://www.gp32x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,6

if that link doesn't work, check:

http://www.gp32x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi

applications->audio + video ... or search for your favorite one smile

damn, all the links to files (loopcart bin and manual) are broken! i wrote you an email, hopefully you have a copy to forwarded?! big_smile tongue

i also wrote paul of treewave, maybe he'll fix it  ...

HARDSID QUATRO ... i have an isa one ... it has 2 SID chips in it. they sound wonderful but goattracker seems arcane compared to LSDj and i want to sit at a computer as little as i can in my life (already there all day at work) ... so i stick with my comfortable gameboy.

i wonder if there are any SID trackers that could be made to work on the GP32. i would guess not since they are all designed to be used on a real SID or an emualtor w/ a pc keyboard. there are so many fucking SID trackers though . . .  it would be cool to spark some interest in one that is expected to be used in emulators on GB or GP. maybe someone activly developing a c64 tracker atm could be convinced of a port. i don't know that scene at all!

That shouldn't be so hard after all, as the author of GoatTracker, a SID tracker running under Windows and Linux, released the source code in C. Porting it would be easy for an experienced GP-developer smile
